Anthony Monsarrat

Anthony was born in Ottawa, Canada in 1955. He picked up a friends camera at seventeen and never really wanted to put it down. He has lived and worked on three continents. His pet peeves are unadventurous art directors and the British need to buttonhole photographers.

" When I arrived in London, I would present my portfolio and more or less be accused of misrepresenting myself. As if no one could do this scope of work In Canada when the phone rang with a job, you didn't say 'I have never done that, therefore I can't', you just got on with it."

Through five years of running a studio in Halifax, Anthony build up a varied list of work and clients and loved the change that each day might bring. Modelling Theatre, Annual Reports, Album Covers, Fine Art, Portraits, Still Life, Advertising.

Whatever, whenever. It is a work ethic that Anthony has stuck with to this day.

" At present, most of my jobs seem to be in the travel industry, but I still find time to shoot other things, like stock or still life or personal projects. I think that the shakedown from the digital tree is still happening and any photographer that isn't prepared to move out of his comfort zone is doomed."

Anthony lives in London with his partner. His current addictions are Sudoku and Omaha Poker.
